Writer, Producer and Strategic Communications Consultant
Holly Greenland Consulting, October 2019 onwards

Direct freelance projects include: school strategy and content producer for the Croydon London Borough of Culture celebrations, co-author of Commonwealth Parliamentary Association democratic engagement guide for global Parliaments, learning content writer and producer for UK Parliament, and strategic communications for Tonic (representation in the performing arts charity).

I am also proud to deliver insight and strategic comms projects as a Strategy Director since 2019 at the award-winning communications agency, Social and Local Inc. Projects include: Barnardo’s insight generation, Met Office Climate Science brand positioning, and Food Standards Agency (FSA) partnership marketing strategy and planning lead across a three-year period.

On an ongoing basis, I recently joined the team at the global membership body the Alliance of Independent Authors (ALLi) as the part-time Content and Communications Editor for self-publishing advice content, producing regular articles, blogs and guidance for established authors and those just setting out on their career.

Strategic Communications Lead (contracts)
Terrence Higgins Trust, Feb - April 2020 / June - Oct 2021

Working with the the Communications, Marketing and Fundraising teams, along with the charity’s agency (11 London), to drive through the development of a new messaging framework and brand book. This included managing the development process, developing audience profiles across stakeholders, producing tone-of-voice guidance based on organisational values, and developing case-for-support messaging by audience segment. In addition, brought in to plan and deliver targeted PrEP Protects campaigns in Hampshire and Brighton to raise awareness of and increase take up of PrEP, a critical prevention drug taken by HIV-negative people before and after sex that reduces the risk of getting HIV.

Deputy Director, Communications
House of Commons, 2017 - 2019

Deputy Director for full-service communications office, offering leadership across media relations, internal communications, social, brand, campaigns and crisis comms; directly heading up the Strategic Communications Team; developing national engagement campaigns; producing annual House-wide communications strategy including key messages, brand key and shared objectives across teams such as Visits, Education and Participation; leading Communications Centre of Excellence to embed best practise across the organisation; office Business Management Director.

Deputy Head, Public Information
UK Parliament, Participation, 2015 - 2017

Operational development and leadership across three teams responsible for ensuring transparency and equal access to UK Parliament information for the public: Social Media & Digital - including corporate Facebook and Twitter channels; Projects and Content - including development and production of ongoing learning content, events and resources for children and young people; Public Enquiries - a team responding to House of Commons public information requests across phone, digital, and via engaging print and online information provision.

UK Parliament, Participation, 2011 - 2015

Management of extensive slate of projects, content and campaigns from idea generation and development through to publication or launch, including: Big Ben projections; BBC Free Speech debate campaign and school’s events; Election Toolkit for schools; regular information animations with views exceeding one million; multiple campaign web builds; ‘Pop-Up Parliament’ partner event kit, first Augmented Reality App for Parliament’s Visitor Services; leading and delivering audience insight; Education Service brand refresh.

Multi-platform Campaign Producer
BBC, 2006 - 2011

Developing and delivering public engagement campaigns to bring BBC programming into communities and UK-wide spaces. Role specialised in live events, exhibitions and print, including: Hands-on-History two-year phased campaign with History of the High Street, Stonehenge, Filthy Cities and The Normans; producer for pan-BBC Poetry Season; producer for RaW adult literacy campaign, and Content Producer for Planet Dinosaur tour resources. Previously BBC Campaign Associate and Assistant.
