Scaredy Cat: A Time Riddlers Adventure

Scaredy Cat began as a short story written with my son Gus when he was just seven years old. It was inspired by his love of spooky tales and mysteries.

In 2023 we revisited our story and realised there were lots more ideas we could add; new characters, plot twists and even puzzles for readers to complete. This meant kids could step into the story along the way. Soon a full chapter book for kids aged 7-11 was completed and we were delighted to publish it via amazon.

We worked with the brilliant illustrator Onyinye Iwu to produce the cover and internal puzzle illustrations to bring our characters to life and she has done a fantastic job!

London Borough of Culture 2023 (Croydon): School Resources

Having developed the education strategy and evaluation framework for the This is Croydon programme, I was invited to write and produce the accompanying arts and humanities school resources, including toolkits, curriculum-linked lesson plans and presentations.

Activities used work, including oral history recordings, original murals, and poetry from across the wider programme as stimuli for classroom activities.

In addition, I worked with the Museum of Croydon team to produce music-related lesson plans to bring the Croydon Music Heritage Trail into the classroom.

UK Parliament Short Story Collections: Human Rights Heroes

I was delighted to be commissioned in 2020 to produce a series of four short story collections by UK Parliament.

Working with specialists with a range of lived experience and expertise, and collaborating with four brilliant illustrators, each booklet tells the stories of trail blazers in UK human rights throughout history.

Themes include disability history, Black history, women’s rights and LGBTQ+ rights. All available for free and with supporting activities to run with children and young people.

Free to download on Parliament’s learning website.

Full of shocks and twists… I let my dinner go cold because I couldn’t put it down until I’d devoured the final pages.

What’s the story?

It's hard being a new mum. It's even harder when you are on the trail of a serial killer....

It is a hot summer, and in the suburban town of St. Anne’s Emily Elliot has just begun maternity leave. She has big plans to batch cook organic meals and power walk with her stroller in the sunshine, but being a new mum will test her in ways she could never have imagined…

When Tabetha Tate, a detective from Emily’s baby class, receives an anonymous letter warning that a murder will take place, the police show little interest. But when the body of Mama Nolan is discovered at the local community centre, the two new friends are drawn into a deadly mystery.

As the women investigate this string of murders, Emily discovers that everyone has a secret.

Why is a killer targeting local mothers, who can Emily trust and could she be next on the list?

Murder on Maternity pays homage to Agatha Christie and the golden age of detective fiction. Murder mystery fans will enjoy spotting the classic references to Christie’s most famous mysteries alongside amateur sleuth Emily Elliot.
